Hobbies & Activities During Your Stillness Phase.

If you are going through an awakening, then you will surely go through stillness- also known as the "cocoon" phase. This is the phase where you are waiting for Allah to open the new door. Your old life ended and your new life hasn't started yet. You marriage is ending, you moved to a temporary location, your job may have ended.. yet nothing has started.

You are stuck in the middle with no partner, no permenant home, no job, barely any money, and no set routine. When my cocoon phase first started, I thought I was going to lose my mind. Some days I would imagine staying in a hotel and sleeping my days away.. just to wake up months later when time had passed.

I was already writing my blogs.. but not enough. In the beginning, I was blogging once a week or once in a few weeks, but then I started blogging more frequently- sometimes even everyday or multiple times a day.

My inner state shifted drastically once I started making tasbihs. I have no job and no set routine.. but two things are set.

1- Writing a blog.

2- Making a tasbih

I was excited each day to sit alone and be able to do these two things.. and so far, it's been helping.

My advice would be to start blogging or journaling every single day.. let out everything you're feeling. Even if you don't have a soul mission- you can still write, for yourself. Even as I am writing this, I have no idea if anybody will ever read it or not. So far, nobody has..

But I am still writing- for myself.

Also, get a hobby. For me it's tasbih making. Actually tasbih making is the perfect hobby for me because not only does it give me something to do.. but also it motivates me to do more dikhr. It's like killing two birds with one stone.

So yeah- get a hobby.. if you're going through an awakening, most likely you would want to do something Islamic. You can get into art. Start painting signs/symbols that are important in your journey. Start painting the colors that were the most significant. Or start painting Allah's name or arabic calligraphy.

You can get into crocheting, sewing, pottery, cooking..

Start learning a new language..

Look into new certifications..

Start a business..

Volunteer at a masjid..

or start making tasbihs and doing dikhr- just like me. It's so creative and so worth it.

Read a few pages of the quran everyday.

Start recording videos where you talk about Islam or give Islamic advice and post it online. or even record audios.

Start making jewelry of colors that are the most significant in your journey.

There are so many ideas- the list can go on and on. But the point is, start doing something to make this time not only pass by faster, but make it worthwhile.
